**Please note:**
U.S. Citizens
- Graduate students enrolled at SIUC before Fall 2009 whose permanent home address
is in the 14 westernmost counties of Kentucky pay in state tuition. Those include
Ballard, Caldwell, Calloway, Carlisle, Crittenden, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston,
Lyon, Marshal, McCracken, Trigg and Union.
- Graduate students enrolled at SIUC before Fall 2009 whose permanent home address
is in Missouri pay in state tution when registering for 6 hours or less of coursework.
- Students who are new to SIUC beginning Fall 2009 or more recently, and whose permanent
home address is in Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri or Tennessee, will pay an Alternate
Tuition Rate equivalent to the Resident (In-State) rate.
- For any semester in which you hold a graduate assistantship contract, you will
receive a tuition "waiver" and will pay only fees*
for the number of credit hours you register for.
International Students
- INS requires that international students (F-1) be registered "full time"
to remain "in status" (good legal standing). At SIUC, for graduate students, this
means that you are required to register for 9 semester hours of coursework fall and
spring semesters if you do not hold an assistantship or if you hold a fellowship. You
are required to register for only 8 credit hours fall and spring semesters if you
hold a graduate assistantship. You are not required to register for summer semester
unless it is your first term of admission in the Graduate School, or if you hold a
graduate assistantship for the summer term (3 hours of registration is required in
the summer to hold an assistantship).
- For any semester in which you hold a graduate assistantship contract, you will
receive a full "waiver" of tuition and will pay only fees. The tuition waiver
for summer is for only 8 credit hours.
- If you hold an assistantship contract for fall and spring semester (in that order),
you will receive an automatic tuition waiver for the following summer semester,
whether or not you hold a contract for the summer (limited to 8 credit hours).
- For any semester in which a graduate student holds an assistantship contract,
their spouse and/or children may pay in-state tuition. The appropriate paperwork
must be filled out in advance in the Graduate Registration Office in Woody Hall
B104 (this should be done in the Graduate Registration Office even if the spouse
is registering as an undergraduate).
