include facilitating leadership training programs and assisting various student groups and campus departments. |

This position is responsible for the development, operation, supervision, hiring, training and evaluation
of programs and services in the Fitness Department. |
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Work cooperatively with the Assistant Director in the recruitment, hiring, training, and scheduling of Fitness Staff. - Direct supervision of fitness instructors, personal trainers or weight room attendants.

Athletic Training POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for supervision and coordination of the Recreational Sports and Services
(RSS) departments overall sports medicine program, including, but not limited to: injury prevention,
evaluation, education, management, treatment of emergency athletic injuries and collaboration with Student
Health Center assigned personnel for medical and procedural communication and protocols. |
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide athletic training services for the Recreational Sports and Services departments sports program, including, but not limited Intramural Sports, Sports Club, and general open recreation sports as directed by the Risk Management Coordinator, including attendance at scheduled competitions as deemed necessary;
- Assist with the coordination and scheduling of Intramural/Sport Club student-athletes for medical referrals;
- Report the status of injured Intramural/Sport Club student-athletes to proper RSS supervisors and periodically meet to identify and discuss problem areas with members of the Risk Management Council;
- Assist with the compilation, input, organization, and maintenance of all records on student-athletes, and share in the responsibility of maintaining and organizing the file system as it progresses;
- Assist with the enforcement of codes of conduct and rules of use for RSS’s facilities and equipment;
- Assist with the administration of an Exposure Control Plan for Bloodborne Pathogens as dictated by the State of Illinois and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA);
- Work in conjunction with the RSS staff regarding the safety of the athletic equipment, testing new equipment, to aid in the purchase of protective equipment;
- Maintain a good working relationship with the RSS staff regarding the safety of practice and competition surfaces and general field/court conditions;
- Maintains certification and license requirements of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) and the State of Illinois;
- CPR, AED and First Aid Instructor ,br>
- CPR-Emergency lab instruction on a weekly basis
- Collaboration with Student Health Center assigned personnel for medical and procedural communication and protocols

Facilities Position Overview:
The Graduate Assistant for Facilities is responsible for hiring, supervising, and evaluating hourly
student personnel working for the department of Recreational Sports and Services. Major areas of focus
include training student staff, facility maintenance, custodial operations, security monitoring, member
interaction, emergency preparation training, and event supervision. The Graduate Assistant for Facilities
reports to the Facilities Coordinator. |

Intramural Sports POSITION OVERVIEW
Recreational Sports & Services strives to provide an extensive array of leisure and recreational
opportunities to the University community. This position is responsible for various aspects of the
Intramural Sports program offered including officials training and development and officiating and
event management. |
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Hire, train, schedule and evaluate Intramural Sports officials, scorekeepers, equipment managers and supervisors
- Coordinate the scheduling of intramural teams/participants in leagues and tournaments

Personal Training POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for the development, operation, supervision, hiring, training and evaluation
of programs and services in the Fitness Department. |
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Work cooperatively with the Assistant Director in the recruitment, hiring, training, and scheduling of Fitness Staff. - Direct supervision of fitness instructors, personal trainers or weight room attendants.
- Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director in training and evaluation fitness staff.
- Lend support to student employees in all areas of division programs, services, and facilities.
- Work cooperatively with the Assistant Director in development and distribution of participant satisfaction surveys and complete reports.
- Complete monthly reports for fitness programs and services.
- Develop and implement a fall and/or spring semester incentive program and help develop marketing strategies for the incentive.
- Prepare bulletin boards and handouts on various wellness topics for participants on an as-needed basis.
- Collect and process payroll for fitness staff.
- Serve as a Building/Facility Manager on a rotating basis.
- Assist, as needed, in division special events.
- Additional duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
-Be proficient in emergency procedures, as well as building policies and procedures.
- Work independently, be resourceful, take initiative, and work with diverse populations
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment

Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree current certification in CPR/AED and First Aid or

Experience teaching group fitness, Experience as a personal trainer, USA Weight Lifting
Hours Per Week Minimum of 20 work hours per week. |
Starting Date Negotiable
Compensation Appointments are from August 1st to mid-May and include a monthly stipend of $1326
(for a total of $12,597), full tuition waiver and half of the primary student health service fee is paid by
the department. Summer employment is available at an hourly rate. |
Admission Requirements: Requirements include a baccalaureate degree or
an equivalent from an accredited college or university; acceptance by the SIUC Graduate School
(2.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale on the last 60 hours of Bachelors’ degree), and Departmental acceptance.

Sport Clubs POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for scheduling staff, filing rosters, travel and purchase requests, ordering
and checking equipment, coordinate special events, payroll for all of the aquatic facilities, and train staff. |
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Ensure the safety of participants through the use of risk management procedures
- Be the clubs first point of contact for inquires
- Attend club meetings and external club meetings
- Register players and file rosters
- Deal with correspondence
- Coordinate special events
- Collect feedback from club members
- Assist in supervising sport club activity
- Maintain directory of sport club officers, organize paperwork, and answer questions about sport clubs
- Attend the clubs’ sporting events
- Fill out travel and purchase request forms
- Help coordinate meetings and manuals
- Order equipment for the clubs
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
-Experience with sport clubs and recreation/athletic events.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrate organizational and time management skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks
- Have the flexibility to deal with the demands of each sport.
